βShe Dares To Sayβ is an independent writing and audio project by Almaz Ohene exploring sexuality, intimacy, and cultural memory through essays, interviews, and experimental storytelling. It currently has an audience of approx. 900 subscribers.
βShe Dares To Sayβ began in 2021 and has grown into a well-regarded archive of essays, interviews and transcripts that centre sexual honesty, marginalised voices and relational nuance. With Almazβs signature blend of openness, rigour and care, the platform continues to challenge the cultural stigma around intimacy and invites the community into the conversation.
Season 4 (September 2025 β Present) features the following content strands published each calendar month:
- βIt Stuck With Meβ β poignant, tightly drawn vignettes that capture the moments that linger. These reflective pieces revisit episodes β small, strange or life-shaping β that remain etched in memory, unpacking why theyβve stayed with me.
- βConsidering My Crushesβ Β β a returning favourite: these essays dive into crushes on celebrities, fictional characters and public figures, weaving cultural critique with personal longing. A space where obsession, admiration, and projection are all welcome. Featuring guest essays by writers from Almazβs creative community.
- βRelationship Status: Unfilteredβ β a bold, yet gentle interview series speaking to people across the spectrum of romantic and sexual experience, from high school sweethearts and solo polyamorists, to swingers, co-parents, serial monogamists and asexual folk. Each conversation follows the same of questions, revealing what people really Β think about love, commitment, dating and desire; from the inside of these relationships themselves.
Season 3 (October 2023 β February 2025) introduced a rotating schedule of bold, intimate content:
- βPleasure Principles with Almaz Oheneβ β Almazβs monthly column for Female Health & Fertility Β magazine, republished in full for βShe Dares To Sayβreaders.
- βSexuality survey interviewsβ β candid, verbatim conversations where members of the public share personal reflections on sex, with anonymised audio recordings available exclusively for paid subscribers.
- βConsidering My Crushesβ ΒΒβ personal and guest essays on the allure of celebrity, fictional, and public figures, paired with visual storytelling. Guest writers include: Award-winning authors Justin Myers, Peter Apps and Karla Marie Sweet.
- βWhat The Notches Saidβ β quick-fire interviews with people from Almazβs sexual past, revisiting old encounters to explore how lives and perspectives evolve over time.
Earlier seasons established the projectβs foundation:

- Season 1 (January 2021 β January 2022): A mix of personal essays by Almaz and guest contributors examining sexuality, diversity, and coloniality.
